MJ Fretwell isn’t just making music—she’s telling stories you can feel, weaving raw emotion into dreamy soundscapes that hit you right in the heart. Growing up in a small rural village in Sussex, MJ found her voice early, writing songs and singing from the age of seven. By the time she finished her GCSEs, she knew exactly where she was headed—straight into the world of music.
Brighton became her creative playground, fueling her artistic passion before she made the leap to London, where she spent five years honing her craft, studying the music business, and refining her unique sound. Now, she’s ready to make waves with her debut single, "Tainted", dropping on March 21st.
MJ’s music is deeply personal, drawing from her own experiences of love and loss. Each song starts with her and an acoustic guitar, before evolving into lush, layered productions packed with soulful vocal harmonies. With influences ranging from Lola Young and the Bee Gees to Ariana Grande, her sound has been compared to Indie-pop favorite Clairo—a perfect mix of nostalgia and modern edge.
